NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam on June 21: NTA Introduces Unprecedented Security Measures

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is preparing to conduct the NEET UG 2026 re-examination on June 21 following the cancellation of the earlier examination amid allegations of a question paper leak. The decision affects more than 22 lakh medical aspirants across India and has become one of the most discussed education issues of the year.

To ensure transparency and restore confidence in the examination process, authorities have introduced an unprecedented security framework for the upcoming re-test. The NTA has already released the Advance City Intimation Slip, allowing candidates to check their allotted examination cities before the release of admit cards.

According to official updates, the re-examination will be conducted in offline pen-and-paper mode across hundreds of examination centers in India and abroad. Candidates will not be required to submit fresh applications, as existing registrations remain valid for the re-test.

Following concerns raised after the cancellation of the original examination, the government and NTA have implemented several high-level security measures.

Officials involved in preparing the question paper, including subject experts, moderators, and translators, have reportedly been placed under strict isolation at secure locations. Access to mobile phones, internet services, and external communication has been restricted until the examination is completed.

Authorities have also introduced multiple layers of monitoring throughout the examination process, including question paper preparation, printing, transportation, storage, and distribution.

In a significant move, the Indian Air Force is expected to assist in transporting confidential examination materials to ensure secure and timely delivery across the country. Security agencies and law enforcement personnel will also be deployed extensively at examination centers.

The original NEET UG 2026 examination, conducted in May, came under scrutiny after allegations of a paper leak surfaced from multiple locations. The controversy triggered widespread concern among students, parents, and education experts, leading authorities to review the examination process.

After assessing the situation, officials decided to conduct a fresh examination to protect the interests of candidates and maintain the integrity of the medical entrance system.

The re-examination aims to provide a fair opportunity to all eligible candidates while ensuring that admissions to medical colleges are based solely on merit.

Students appearing for the re-examination should regularly visit the official NTA and NEET websites for updates regarding admit cards, examination guidelines, and reporting instructions.

Candidates are advised to verify their examination city details, keep required documents ready, and avoid relying on unverified information circulating on social media platforms.

Education experts have also urged students to remain focused on preparation rather than speculation, emphasizing that the revised examination will follow the same syllabus, pattern, and marking scheme as the original test.
