Major Fire Breaks Out in Lucknow’s Vikas Nagar Settlement

A massive fire broke out in the Vikas Nagar area of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, destroying more than 280 makeshift houses and leaving over 1,000 residents homeless in one of the biggest fire incidents reported in the city this year. Authorities confirmed that the blaze spread rapidly through a dense slum settlement where families lived in closely packed temporary structures.

According to officials, the fire started in the evening and quickly intensified due to the explosion of multiple LPG cylinders inside the settlement, making rescue operations extremely difficult for firefighters.

Cylinder Explosions Made the Situation Worse

More than 50 LPG cylinders reportedly exploded during the incident, causing flames to spread rapidly across the settlement within minutes. Thick black smoke was visible from several kilometres away, creating panic among nearby residents and businesses.

Fire brigade teams rushed to the spot immediately and worked for several hours before bringing the situation under control.

Cause of the Fire Still Under Investigation
